By automating liquid handling operations in commercially available thermal cyclers (Qiagen Rotor-Gene Q), cross-contaminations as well as pipetting errors can be avoided and the hands-on time can be greatly reduced. In the area of clinical diagnostics, in food monitoring or forensics, the nucleic acid analysis by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) is the method of choice thanks to its high sensitivity. With the flexible, tailor-made LabSlices, Hahn-Schickard provides a microfluidics platform that automates the time-consuming and error-prone preparation of qPCR reactions. LabSlices can be processed in commercially available Qiagen RotorGene thermal cyclers and seamlessly integrated in the analytics workflow. They contain reagents specified by the customer and as closed, automated systems, minimize cross contaminations and pipetting errors as closed, automated systems.
LabSlices – an adaptive platform
LabSlices can be flexibly adapted to your requirements. With up to 14 times geometric and up to 4 times colorimetric multiplexing, a multitude of target genes can be verified in parallel. The required primers and probes are pre-stored on the LabSlice in dried form. Hence, a multitude of organisms, such as food pathogens, agents of infectious diseases or similar, can be reliably verified in a single sample with low volume and with only one pipetting step. Nested PCR as well as melting curve analyses can also be implemented on LabSlices, just like required control reactions, in order to complete the nucleic acid analytics.
