Administering drugs into the skin

Verapido Medical GmbH was a medical technology start-up company in the area of medication dosage from Villingen-Schwenningen. This Hahn-Schickard spin-off company, founded in 2013, specialized in the development of innovative, safe and comfortable equipment for injection and infusion in or under the skin. Verapido's most widely-developed product candidate was the "dermaject® intradermal injection device", or "dermaject®" for short, a special medicine product for injecting into the upper skin layer (intradermal). For dermaject®, a newly-developed and patented cannula-insertion mechanism, combined with microneedle technology, was created. Other programs included a new device with precise, individual depth adjustment for injecting botulinum toxin, an auto-injector pen for pre-filled syringes, and an innovative infusion apparatus for the subcutaneous rehydration of patients suffering from dehydration.

The top piece (height: 5 cm) contains a newly developed and patented cannula insertion mechanism, which is based on the so-called Mantoux injection, combined with microneedle technology.
