Einheitliche Sensorplattform für das Gesamtprojekt „Intelligence for Soil“ (AgraSens)
A sustainable agriculture is based on site-specific fertilization, in order to combine good yields with environmental protection. An efficient, quick mapping of soil properties is required. Hahn-Schickard is developing a mobile sensor platform, measuring some ion concentrations, out in the free on field, and logging them, together with GPS positions, into a database.

A sensitive regulation of the soil fecundity is aimed, by well-matched dosing of the fertilizer. The main project I4S investigates related substance-specific dynamics and procedures. Till now, our sub project realized soft- and hardware, measuring ions of nitrate, ammonium, potassium and magnesium, pH-value, humidity by ion sensitive electrodes and chemically sensitive field-effect transistors. Constructions about the sample preparation were added, also the power supply, signal processing and visualization. Further work was related to cameras for soil texture, image processing, junction to a database and the assembly into a trailer, together with instruments of project partners.
I4S explores the top soil layer until a depth of 30 cm. Later, some research about deeper profiles, micronutrients and pollutants is intended.
