Digital assays with LabSlide in standard laboratory equipment

With LabSlide you can perform drop-based analyses, such as digital PCR, with already existing laboratory equipment.

Digital assays take advantage of the separation of target molecules in a large number of separated reaction spaces. This allows an absolute quantification without the comparison with calibrators by means of a standard curve. This complex laboratory process can be automated using the centrifugal microfluidics and implemented on a plastic prototype. These separated reaction spaces are generated through rotation in the form of thousands of micro-droplets by means of the centrifugal step emulsification. With the LabSlide, Hahn-Schickard provides a microfluidic cartridge in the format of a specimen slide which also allows the use of standard laboratory equipment for the analysis.

LabSlide – a universal platform

The droplets generated in the LabSlide remain in the cartridge during the entire analysis and arrange themselves in one formation due to capillary forces. This technology represents a universal platform for different molecular verification procedures. In addition to established reactions, such as the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), isothermal amplification methods such as the loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) or recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) have already been successfully performed in the LabSlide.
