We develop application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC)

To miniaturize sensors and systems while maximizing functionality and minimizing energy consumption and size, the electronics need to be implemented as application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). Our services range from concept development and circuit design to production and characterization.

Based on your requirements and wishes, we create a system concept that enables the desired functions with a performance optimum and minimal energy consumption. This can either be a sub-block (e.g.: high-performance sensor readout or analog/digital converter ADC) for the complete system developed by you or even the complete system, which contains all the components required for the functionality. Once the system has been specified and the production technology selected, we develop the circuit from schematics to production-ready layout. Following the external production of the circuit, we verify compliance with the specifications through extensive measurements.

High-performance microelectronic circuits

Our system and circuit developers have many years of experience in the design, development, and verification of analog and digital integrated circuits. We are particularly experienced in the areas of (MEMS) sensor readout and analog/digital conversion. Furthermore, we have extensive knowledge in the field of measuring the smallest currents (e.g. for nanopore measurements) and electrochemical analyses (e.g. square-wave voltametry) and the derivation of neural signals. Our portfolio is complemented by circuit concepts for very energy-efficient implementations of small networks based on artificial intelligence (AI), as required for sensor-based edge AI.

As an application-oriented research institute, we build a bridge between current research and developments at universities and industrial companies. Our close cooperation with scientists at the University of Freiburg gives us access to circuit technology developments in the field of microelectronics, which we can incorporate into our projects.
