Multiplex analysis of mycobacterium tuberculosis in standard laboratory devices based on functional disposable cartridges (TB-Tube Multiplex)

This project aims towards an integrated microfluidic lab-on-a-chip platform for fast, reliable, contamination free, sensitive and economic diagnostics of tuberculosis, including genetic detection of resistance to antituberculous drugs.

This project aims towards an integrated microfluidic lab-on-a-chip platform for fast, reliable, contamination free, sensitive and economic diagnostics of tuberculosis, including genetic detection of resistance to antituberculous drugs.

To achieve this goal, biochemical processes are integrated into a centrifugal microfluidic cartridge that enables automated detection of the pathogen and of resistance to anti-tuberculous drugs in standard laboratory devices (centrifuge, PCR cycler). Hence, such diagnostic tests can be performed by non-experts using inexpensive laboratory equipment, in particular in poorly developed regions with a high prevalence of tuberculosis.
