Predictive Diagnosis of Immune-Associated Diseases
Within the research collaboration ‚Predictive Diagnosis‘ multiple predictive, diagnostic methods and test systems for personalized medicine of immune-associated diseases are investigated and developed.
A high number of diseases is caused by a malfunction of the immune system. The diversity of such diseases, combined with the diversity of the individual immune system of a person, leads to an urgent need for innovative diagnostic tools that enable personalized medicine (PM). Within this research collaboration between Hahn-Schickard and the Natural and Medical Sciences Institute (NMI) diagnostic methods and test systems for PM of immune associated diseases are investigated and developed. The overall project aim is to prepare a novel, diagnostic value chain, which can be transferred rapidly into clinical and economical exploitation.
To reach this goal, the institutes collaborate with eight university and clinical institutes, and six companies. A focus at Hahn-Schickard is to establish an automated microfluidic platform for extraction of circulating biomarkers from patient samples. Further research topics within the consortium cover highly sensitive protein analytics (NMI), as well as the development of a microelectronically integrated, high-resolution system to monitore voltage signals and dopamine concentrations in 3D organoids (Hahn-Schickard).
