Universal platform for droplet-based digital nucleic acid analysis (UniDrop)
With its easy handling and the possibility to process the platform on standard laboratory equipment, the UniDrop system enables digital nucleic acid analysis in any laboratory.
In many areas, such as research and medical diagnostics, precise identification and quantification of genetic material is necessary. The droplet-based approach used in UniDrop offers the possibility of combining sensitive detection and absolute quantification without the need for a standard curve. The platform to be developed is based on an innovative centrifugal microfluidic cartridge, the LabSlide, which will be processed on standard laboratory equipment. The UniDrop system will be usable for all common molecular detection methods, such as PCR, LAMP, RPA and HDA. The combination of a low-cost disposable cartridge, the broad assay spectrum as well as the possibility to process the cartridge on standard laboratory equipment and the software-supported data analysis makes the platform particularly attractive and flexible for a broad user spectrum.
