After we have developed a production process, we make it possible to manufacture silicon chips in series production in quantities between 200,000 and 2 million per year (depending on the complexity of the component) in Villingen-Schwenningen. This means that currently, among other components, thermal volume flow sensors, acceleration sensors and fluid components for analytical devices are manufactured as sales orders. Some of these products were developed by us, and for some others we have adjusted the existing manufacturing processes to our manufacturing line and implemented them.
With this series production, Hahn-Schickard is closing the gap between prototype production and mass production carried out by large-scale chip manufacturers from the MEMS area, with which the market launch of new developments or the use of microsystems for niche applications is often made possible for the first time. Here, ongoing manufacture of quantities of just one to only a few hundred components per year is perfectly possible. These very small series most cover the particular need of small and medium-sized businesses.
