As part of the strategic partnership between Hahn-Schickard and the Japanese chemical company Toray, Dr. Masanobu Yoshikawa, President of the Toray Research Center, visited the Hahn-Schickard site in Ulm together with Yuki Yoshida and Dr. Billur Sevinis from the Toray Automotive Center Europe. This visit underlines the joint commitment of both organizations under the motto “Collaborate to Innovate”.
Under the leadership of Dr. Mehmet Dinc, Group Leader for Biomimetic Receptors at Hahn-Schickard, the collaboration has made significant progress in functional materials research. A key project is the researcher exchange program that brought Dr. Kazutaka Tomita from the Toray Research Center to Ulm, where he produced promising research results. These were personally reviewed by Dr. Yoshikawa and are currently being prepared for joint publication in a scientific journal. From the end of June, Benedikt Keitel, a scientist from the Biomimetic Receptors group, will visit the Toray Research Center in Japan for 6 weeks to carry out a comprehensive characterization of 3D-printed functional materials.
The meeting also served to discuss which measures could intensify the collaboration. Prof. Dr. Boris Mizaikoff, Director of the Hahn-Schickard Institute in Ulm, and Dr. Yoshikawa emphasized their common goal of expanding the partnership and working together in the long term. Joint publications will enable the innovative approaches and results of the cooperation to be presented to a broad specialist audience.
