Hahn-Schickard expands its China strategy

Application-oriented research is a successful model offered by Hahn-Schickard to its partners and customers in Baden-Württemberg and beyond. Especially small and medium-sized companies profit from this offer, which is also highly valued and in great demand in China.

Last year, we successfully finished a pilot project with the Chinese company Sigan utilizing our MEMS clean room in Villingen-Schwenningen. After intensive negotiations with the local government of Pinghu, we jointly founded the “Hahn-Schickard Semiconductor Technology Co. Ltd.”. Pinghu is an independent city with a population of half a million people located about an hour's drive southwest of Shanghai. This is one of the most dynamic economic zones in China. "With this joint venture, we will be able to market our microsystems technology services in China. An intensive economic and scientific exchange will yield future projects," emphasizes Prof. Alfons Dehé, director of the Hahn-Schickard Institute in Villingen-Schwenningen.

End 2020 the Hahn-Schickard International GmbH was founded as a spinout of Hahn-Schickard to serve as a hub for projects with China. Ms. Rui Zhong is the new Managing Director of Hahn-Schickard International. She has been driving our Business Development in China since 2019: "With my experience in founding companies in the Shanghai area, I was able to establish the right contacts. Our Hahn-Schickard idea is highly appreciated. It is honored by a significant investment from the government of Pinghu."

Next, we bring up Hahn-Schickard Semiconductor Technology Co. Ltd. to life in a three level building in Pinghu (picture). Intensive exchanges of personnel follow in parallel with strategic marketing campaigns to initiate joint projects. Good flight connections to Shanghai as well as a local government with German language skills are attractive assets for a successful exchange.
