With more than 5,000 exhibitors and 100,000 visitors, the MEDICA trade fair is the world's largest trade fair for medical technology.

The demographic development in Germany, the medical-technical progress and the growing health awareness in the population lead to a high demand in the medical and health sector. The market is characterized above all by the development of innovative high-tech products in medical technology and pharmaceuticals as well as new treatment and examination methods.

Hahn-Schickard is represented at Medica and will show results from research projects on topics such as:

• Universal mediator probe platform with electrochemical detection for mobile DNA diagnostics
• Construction and connection techniques for innovative wound dressings for blue light therapy
• Replicated encapsulated diffractive optics using lithographically structured 3D tool inserts for complex optical plastic lens systems
• Translational platform for nanosensor-based medical diagnostics
• Intelligent diagnostics - artificial intelligence for skin cancer detection
• Development of a sensor to record nerve signals
• Sample preparation in field analysis
• Microelectronics for permanent, non-invasive blood pressure measurement in the ear

Hahn-Schickard's particular research focus is on imaging processes, diagnostics (e.g. rapid diagnostic tests), digital health, patient monitoring, clinical chemistry and expertise in optical injection molding + microlens arrays and micro- and nanostructured tool inserts for fluidic components.
